The 2024 exhibition?Piave Futura. Progetti di concorso per il campus universitario nella ex caserma Piave?opens on 27 September and will remain open until 13 November at the San Gaetano Cultural Center. Participation in the inauguration is by invitation only.
The exhibition is free and open to the public from 28 September to 13 November at the San Gaetano Cultural Center.
Organized by the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservationists of Padua, in collaboration with the University of Padua and the Municipality of Padua, the exhibition brings together the ten participating projects of the invitation-only design competition?PiaveFutura, which represents a fundamental phase in the, an area that will hold the new campus of social and economic sciences. The three-dimensional models on display held viewer to better understand the meaning of the project and its integration with the city.
Aimed at spreading awareness to the public and professionals of the results of this competition, the exhibition is of great importance to the city as the area will transform a significant area of the city's historic center, with important implications at an urban planning level. At the same time, it will be a starting point for reflecting on Padua¡¯s transformation.
Dialogue, openness, new perspectives, and ideas for city planning offers meaning across ten distinct visions, with ten urban development processes aimed at Padua and the entire territory.
The winning project of the competition was the one that combined the venue with a big name: Steam srl has in fact found the support of David Chipperfield Architects. The project includes a real campus on 51,000 square meters with a futuristic central structure in which a library will also be built.
The winning proposal is mainly composed of two elements: on one side with the pre-existing buildings, on the other a dynamic one with a completely new building, oval-shaped, which takes up a recurring theme of the city of Padua.
